What we do is important.

Consulting for Nonprofits has been active and working with clients since the last post.  At the beginning of each new year, I like to reflect on the year past, and I set new goals for the upcoming year.  I had no foreshadowing on January 1, 2020 that we were about to step into a global pandemic nor that huge protests would  originate in my home town and spread across the globe.  In hindsight, I should not be surprised.

As a nation we tend to be short sighted.  I regret that we do not follow the Elder’s teachings of being mindful and watchful about the impact that our present lives will have on the seven generations to follow us.  I have depended on others to be prepared and truthful about the possibility of encroaching pandemics.  That did not happen.  We are now caught in it without the scientific, political or spiritual leadership to help us know how to navigate.

Likewise, I have felt, watched, and feared yet another police murder due to the extreme racial injustice playing out behind the mask of equality and policing.  My white ancestors and I are guilty of abusing the rights of others.  We are guilty of enslaving, brutalizing, and failing to practice “loving our neighbors as ourselves.”

The pandemic is a prefect time to reflect, and opening up the nation after a pandemic is the perfect time to correct what we have been doing that has not been working.

Stay well, informed and involved.  I look forward to working with you and talking to you soon.
